C. Douglas Plank, CEO “The PERFECT test case”
Doug Plank is an executive with 28 years of professional leadership and administrative experience in cause-related and non-profit institutions including higher education, social services, medical and religious making him our PERFECT and designated ‘test case’. As we say among us, if it is easy for Doug to use it will be easy for our customers to use. He is also our consummate fundraising leader. With expertise in capital campaigns, board development, annual funds, alumni services, events, major gifts, and planned giving/strategy, staff training, design and implementation, Doug is responsible for more than $500 million raised. Doug was also co-founder of two non-profit organizations supporting military service men and women. These organizations operated national campaigns raising more than $50 million--with 6,000 families assisted with emergency funds for mortgage payments, building and purchasing homes, medical needs adaption and transportation. In the corporate arena, Doug was a senior partner and managing director of a premier leadership and performance development center as well as co-founder/partner in Telesis/Medical Accounting Group, one of the first online medical claims / insurance billing companies in the U.S., serving private practice, hospital-based physicians, and medical centers. With the negotiation of a successful merger/exit, Doug was able devote more of his time to non-profit institutions and advisory/board of directors positions. Current board and advisory roles include Knetwit & Knetbooks, a textbook rental site & online note-sharing platform and Pelagique, a wireless and online medical information content provider. Doug has also served on several non-profit advisory boards including Boy Scouts of America WLACC, Scimitar Leadership Academy, Seaver College Board of Visitors and Younglife Mailbu. Daniel Scalisi, President “The get it done guy”
Daniel Scalisi is a seasoned digital media executive with over 14 years of venture-backed, public company, start-up and emerging technology experience in building, developing and monetizing content businesses, social services and media and is our tireless thinker and doer. If you can think it and it helps our customer, he will get it done. As President of MobileCause, he provides leadership in the areas of market, product and strategy development. Daniel also oversees potential Mergers and Acquisition activity for the company as well as developing cornerstone partnerships. Prior to his role, Daniel spent time as Executive in Residence with a $300 Million dollar venture firm, SidRBass & Associates where he was instrumental in evaluating new investment opportunities as well as vetting and reengineering the market and business development strategies of several of their existing portfolio companies, helping uncover new potential acquirers. Prior to that, as founder/EVP of MyLifeOnline, he built a social media platform business that focused on offering social media tools to companies spanning from Non-Profit to Enterprise. Prior to MyLifeOnline, Daniel led an aggressive multi-million dollar revenue turn around for the U.S. division of a public Japanese Media company WNI. Under Scalisi's leadership, WNI built and deployed the US's first local mobile video TV on-demand network comprised of content from 90 local broadcast affiliates in 90 top US markets. Scalisi has also built two other mobile companies from inception to venture funding and high growth as well as founding and selling an interactive market company. Scalisi is also the recipient of the "40 under 40" award from the San Fernando Business Journal in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishments as a leading digital media executive in the Los Angeles/San Fernando area. Daniel has been a frequent speaker at conferences such as CTIA and iHollywood Forum and is a founding member of MoMeMo, a mobile media networking and discussion group. Nick Nayfack, VP Product Management “Carrier whisperer”
Nick, having worked with major US and International carriers for 10 years, as well as being respected for ‘getting the work done,’ is our resident 'Carrier Whisperer.' Nick’s daily responsibilities include overseeing carrier connectivity, provisioning and compliance management, and mobile products for MobileCause. Nick has worked directly with operators in technical and business operations for 10 years. In 1999, Nick assembled the first mobile commerce application service in North America with Phone.com (now called Openwave) and all major US carriers. In 2001, he helped start one of the largest SMS businesses in the world through Mobileway. Since then, Nick has conducted over 400 systems integrations and managed connections with every major operator billing system. He has helped launch hundreds of value added services in SMS, MMS, WAP/XHTML, JavaME, and BREW. Nick has a B.A in Cognitive Science from U.C. San Diego and M.S. in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon. Currently, he is the top contributor for Consumer Best Practices with the Mobile Marketing Association (the current national standard for US carrier business rules). Beth Eisenberg, Director of Sales “Queen B”
Beth Eisenberg has a diverse and eclectic background with non- profits at her core. Beth is a fearless leader whose size of her heart for non-profits is only matched by the level of her wit. She is an inspiration to the team which is what makes her our Queen B. She founded her own non-profit theatre company, A Grateful Company, back in 2004 where she produced shows that raised money for different charities around the country. Beth then started IUGO, a cause-related software company, in 2008 to help provide an innovative technology to NPOs looking to increase visibility in the smart phone marketing world mainly through the iTunes app store for the iPhone. After launching several iPhone apps iugo.me was acquired by MobileCause and since then Beth has continued to seek highly innovative technology platforms to help cause related organizations raise money and awareness via the mobile market. Educated at Brandeis University with a Sociology background Beth utilizes her experience and education to help bridge the gap between causes and technology acting as the ambassador and teacher to the non- profit world. She is grateful to be part of the MobileCause team bringing with her the experience and knowledge of technology and causes. Jon Calmes, Director of Customer Success “The IDEA Guy”
Jon has over 8 years of diverse sales, customer success and marketing experience, from enterprise level software to direct marketing lists, even his own sales and marketing firm Campus Cruiserz (RIP). He attended California Lutheran University where he majored in Business/Marketing and played baseball. Jon volunteers his time with Young Life Conejo Valley and serves on the board of directors for Paradox Community Technology, a local organization aimed at equipping low income students with the technology and education to succeed in today’s job market Paul Cortens, Lead Web Services Architect “Software wunder-kid”
Paul Cortens is responsible for technical development and integration at MobileCause. We often say Paul (by way of age) looks like the ONLY one on our team from the software industry, but he is definitely YEARS beyond his age in his mastery of not only great technology but ensuring that whatever is developed makes sense for the customer. He has always worked to foster clear communication when it comes to implementing technical solutions. Paul, as Business Intelligence Manager for an international payments provider recently acquired by Western Union, redefined internal database management and sales reporting, making detailed sales information accessible and usable across the organization. Since that time he has functioned as independent web services consultant with strength in Ruby, .Net, API development and Linux. Paul also became a strong advocate for software usability and Test-Driven Development. At MobileCause, Paul is overseeing the development of new products, as well as innovation on existing company offerings. Paul is also leading integrations with many 3rd-party APIs to ensure customers can access their information when and how they need it. Hendre Coetzee, Strategic Advisor “The Grand Poobah”
A strategic advisor, partner and MobileCause shareholder Hendre is the heart of the company. We often refer to Hendre as the ‘Grand Poobah’ affectionately re-calling to memory the Fred Flintstone character because of having not only been an early day pioneer but also for being the heart and soul of the Company. Hendre is a true pioneer having spent years prior to mobile giving surfacing educating the marketplace regarding its eventual growth. A highly respected speaker, corporate culture strategist and executive coach, Hendre has over 20 years of experience working within the corporate as well as social justice, non-profit, relief and development markets in more than 50 countries. Hendre’s work has varied from a facilitator for the integration between black and white youth in post Apartheid South Africa to negotiating mergers for large financial institutions to developing performance-training modules for High Performing Traders that trade on the NYSE and NASDAQ. His clients have included API, Disney, ESPN, Estee Lauder, Revlon, New York Life, FedEx, NoRedtape, WorldVision, Compassion International and Kershner Trading Group. |




As director of customer success Jon helps our clients strategize and implement their “Mobile Plan”. He understands the Non-profit world intimately and shares a deep understanding of marketing and best practices with mobile fundraising and he is incredibly agile and always-thinking, which makes him our go-to Idea guy.
