Holding an annual No Shave November campaign to support the Alzheimer’s Association, the Sigma Alpha Mu (SAM) fraternity wanted to champion their fraternity chapters across the United States to get involved with their efforts, and also create a friendly fundraising competition amongst them to drive participation. They faced a problem of how they could actively accomplish this on their own.
Equipped with MobileCause’s crowdfunding platform, they were able to engage their chapters across the US in their No Shave campaign. The individual chapters were each given their own crowdfunding page where they could generate donations and evoke interest by sharing the status of their beards with supporters. This solution also allowed each chapter to actively measure their results against one another within the platform. In addition to this, each chapter promoted online forms which were sharable via text or email, and a text to donate option with the keyword NOSHAVE# to 71777.
The campaign was a huge success and was continued in the following years. This campaign has resulted in an average of over $35,000 raised per year and 350 engaged at conference session. It also generated average gifts of over $45 which is significant for this college crowd who may not have the disposable income of those with careers Sigma Alpha Mu and the Alzheimer’s Association also were set up so that they sent thank you messages to all of those who helped and deserved appreciation.
