We wanted to see if this could work for us, being a small organization in a small town. MobileCause helped us create an effective strategy to raise awareness about our campaign. Not only did we receive more donations than ever, but we gained a lot of interest and momentum for next year

Coach Dabo Swinney, the head football coach at Clemson University, is the co-founder of Dabo’s All In Team Foundation and during the month of October they run a breast cancer awareness campaign to raise funds for research. With the Swinney family having direct experience with the pain and suffering of this cancer, it was very important that the outcome be more successful than their previous year’s efforts which fell short of expectation.


With the support of MobileCause’s Digital Marketing Services (DMS) a multi-channel fundraising strategy was developed after their goals were discussed. The DMS team prepared a communications plan and week to week outline of activities the foundation should follow that would maximize awareness about the campaign for the month leading up to the breast cancer awareness football game. A key component of the strategy was to reach the core community of football fans and utliize the football team to share the message. Social media efforts included a contest with a prize pack that fans could enter to win by texting in a keyword to a shortcode. Those subscribers were then sent a series of text messages about the campaign and were able to contribute to the campaign. To connect the cause to the audience, a video was created that included the football team and Coach Dabo sharing personal experiences about the impact of breast cancer. The video closed with a call-to-action with the campaign keyword and shortcode to allow for easy participation. Now, with a proper buildup to breast cancer awareness game, the finale included in-game graphics on the screen and the event thermometer with a call to action to the crowd to text the campaign keyword to the shortcode to donate.



The donations poured in, and 137 donors pledged more than $12,800, surpassing their goal of $10,000. This was a 4x fundraising increase from the previous year. The outcome was a direct result of planning ahead, communicating consistently and offering opportunities for donors to connect and engage throughout the month. The DMS team helped Dabo’s All In Team Foundation apply best campaign practices and utilize the MobileCause platform to maximize results. The foundation was delighted that with the funds raised and look forward to seeing what they can accomplish next year.

Dabo’s All In Team Foundation

Coach Dabo Swinney, the head football coach at Clemson University, and his wife Kathleen, formed Dabo’s All In Team’s Foundation. Their mission is to raise awareness about health issues to change the lives of people across the state of South Carolina. With Swinney’s financial support and through various events hosted by the foundation, they raise and distribute funds annually for various focus areas, including breast cancer research.
