#FeelingNuts Is a New Awareness Campaign
The fundraising world has been taken by storm by the ice bucket challenge in recent months. Now, cancer.org will benefit greatly by Hugh Jackman’s unconventional philanthropy.
Hugh Jackman, who has faced two bouts with skin cancer this year, is using his star power and social media network in the fight against testicular cancer. He is challenging men everywhere to perform self exams to discover testicular cancer in early stages. He posted this image of himself and friends at the gym to twitter and is challenging men everywhere post pictures of themselves performing feeling nuts self exams #feelingnuts and challenge friends to do the same.
The MobileCause team is passionate about cancer.org and is excited to participate in #feelingnuts.
About Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is a deadly disease, especially when not detected early. The cancer typically develops in one or both testicles in young men, but it can occur in older men as well. It is a highly treatable and usually a curable type of cancer. Testicular cancers are usually found as a result of signs or symptoms that a person is having. If a tumor is suspected, men should go immediately to their doctor and tests will be needed to confirm the diagnosis. Testicular cancer will claim the lives of about 380 men in 2014 and about 8,820 new cases will be diagnosed. If the disease is caught early, men have a relatively long life-expectancy.
