I was amazed when I learned how easy it was to set up my own page. I was even more amazed when I saw how easy it was for people to give with a credit/debit card from a mobile device.
— Bob Smiland, President and CEO
Inner City Arts had an amazing event and surpassed their fundraising goal with the help of MobileCause, but more funds were still needed. Bob Smiland, the CEO of Inner-City Arts, knew he had to continue his personal fundraising effort to support his passion and needed a way to reach his network of friends and family quickly and easily.
Mr. Smiland decided to set up his first peer-to-peer fundraising campaign with MobileCause. He added his own photos and shared his passion for unlocking the creative potential of underserved Los Angeles children and teens. In hopes of raising $10,000, he shared the link to his personal page with everyone he knew via email and across his social networks.
Enthusiastically he met and exceeded his goal in a matter of three weeks. $16,630 was donated to Inner-City Arts by 37 donors with an average gift size of $450. Word of mouth also worked in his favor and he was also able to collect offline gifts via checks and call center. This is a testament to the power of peer-to-peer fundraising and how a simple webpage sharing passion for a cause can generate positive impact that will last a lifetime.
