The push really is on for businesses to adopt mobile friendly websites, especially now that Google has announced the changes to its algorithm to penalize the unfriendly ones.
- Mobile commerce purchases now make up 34% of all ecommerce purchases, with 40% forecast by the end of this year. In the US, 53% of those sales take place on smartphones, with the rest on tablets.
- Mobile commerce is growing so quickly that some believe it will account for half of all ecommerce by 2018. Goldman Sachs believes that up to $626 billion will be spent shopping on smartphone and tablet devices.
We want things now. Mobile commerce gives us the ability to get exactly what we want when we want it.
As Mobile Commerce Increases… So Will Mobile Donations
Today 81% of mobile phones in the US are smartphones. The primary way these users search the internet is on their phone.
As more and more people become comfortable with entering their credit/debit card credentials on their phone for purchases, the more comfortable they will be to complete mobile donations. Additionally, Iphone and Android autofill functions have increased the convenience of making donations and payments on smartphones.
Mobile-friendly donation forms can be pushed to donors and supporters via text message, email and social media. With a few clicks on their smartphone your donors are now able to make donations and set up recurring gifts. Incredible! Mobile-friendly online giving pages are completely customizable (seriously you can edit every single field and the buttons and background) and only take a few minutes to set up and promote. Even better, each online giving page provides you with:
1—Shortlink for easy promotion on social media
2—Embed code if you want to put your giving form on your website
3—Keyword that people can text at live events to get the donation page link (if people text a keyword they also get automatic text message reminders)
