Both NGEN and KSBJ are radio stations that promote and play Christian music to unite the “Now Generation”. They were looking for a solution that would allow them to engage the right audience effectively and strategically through digital channels. They knew their target audience were all ‘tech savvy’ and used smartphones to read their news and communicate. Setting up a NGEN and KSBJ radio subscription campaign was not something they could do on their own.
The strategy began for the NGEN and KSBJ radio subscription campaign by compiling a list of mobile subscribers across a certain demographic. MobileCause helped them by setting up a keyword NGEN (or KSBJ) that the listeners would text to a phone number 51555. Those who texted (or signed up online) received information about concert details, programming updates, prayer requests, bible verses, devotions, polls, and surveys. Special event keywords were also set up for events such as Christmas and Easter to increase participation in seasonal events.
The NGEN and KSBJ radio subscription campaign was a great triumph for the radio stations. Their target audiences quickly took to this subscription service and participation increased immediately. Currently, more than 66,000 people have signed up for the radio channel subscription service and more than 6,300,000 texts alerts have been sent.
