Mobile Cause has provided our donors with a mobile friendly donation form, saved our staff time, and helped us improve our donation results!

Rachel Patterson, Donor Engagement Coordinator

Drowning in paper workplace giving pledge forms, United Way Salt Lake (UWSL) realized that they needed a change. They were looking for a way to save time, paper, and overhead so that they could put their efforts where it was needed most, to help the most people in their community. They desired a platform that could support online giving at the workplace in place of paper pledge forms, and also provide their staff the donor results in real time.

MobileCause helped UWSL replace their paper forms with online pledge forms that could be accessed remotely, and thus creating a digital workplace campaign. This revolutionized the traditional method and helped reduce the amount of forms by half! By launching online forms through MobileCause, this also enabled UWSL to offer donations to be collected by keyword. UWSL assigned companies their own unique keyword, and during campaign they drove employees to donate by a simple text message! This was a significant change from having to create, distribute and process paper pledge forms. The other bonus was that instead of a dedicated UWSL staff person per workplace giving campaign, multiple digital campaigns could be run at the same time by one person.

In just one year, through MobileCause, 30 companies were championed as digital workplace giving campaigns. Thus far, United Way Salt Lake has been able to collect $44,061 from 3,722 donors through this method alone (and this doesn’t even include payroll deduction donations!). Their staff was also able to do more with less, and this created more opportunity for UWSL to reach out to additional companies and gain greater support. All of this helped UWSL to better service the Salt Lake City community and continue to make a bigger impact! They have plans to continue expanding their digital workplace giving campaigns.

United Way Salt Lake City

Established in 1904 as the Salt Lake Charity Association, its original mission was to help the poor, discourage panhandling, and coordinate multiple programs. The historic “community chest” with a broad charitable mission has transformed into an agent for social change. Today, United Way of Salt Lake is pursuing lasting social change on some of the toughest challenges we face, including poverty, poor health and lagging educational achievement.
