The University of Notre Dame was having issues engaging their alumni. They realized that, if they could create communication with this donor base, their collecting potential was not being reached. The university looked to MobileCause to offer a solution.


Notre Dame used text messages to engage alumni during the holiday season. 28 days of peace was launched as an advent campaign to give alumni a meaningful activity each day of the holiday season. Participants received emails but could also sign up for text alerts by texting ND28days to 51555. Each day, alumni received a new activity on their cell phone. These texts reminded alumni of both how much they enjoyed college and that they could help the current student base.


This engagement campaign resulted in over 1,001 alumni joining the text message list. To this day 844 of those remain committed to this engagement practice. This means that a retainment rate of over 83% was achieved!
