Washington DECA was looking to create additional buzz around their 2018 Annual Emerging Leaders Fundraising Luncheon. The educational nonprofit wanted to increase engagement and make it easier for current and prospective donors to give.
After attending a luncheon for another educational nonprofit, Washington DECA Director of Philanthropy, Brent Mason, noticed how engaging the nonprofit’s MobileCause live event thermometer and text-to-donate features were. He loved how event attendees could text in their donation from their seats and see those donations displayed on a dynamic, live fundraising thermometer and donor wall. Leaving the luncheon inspired, Brent made the decision to update Washington DECA’s entire fundraising database and platform to MobileCause.
With new MobileCause donor-friendly donation pages, electronic raffle tickets, and back-end reporting features, Washington DECA was able raise 9% more in 2018 than in 2017. The additional funds raised went directly to helping student members experiencing financial hardship at home so were unable to attend DECA programs without financial aid.
Attendees at the Annual Emerging Leaders Fundraising Luncheon loved the ease of texting in their donations from their seats. Although DECA will always rely on traditional marketing channels for their events, such as direct mail, telemarketing, and on-air fund drives, the ease of MobileCause’s online donation pages, electronic raffle tickets, and text-to-donate allowed them to increase donor participation and revenue pre and post event. MobileCause also enabled DECA to efficiently coordinate the distribution and collection of electronic raffle tickets, helping to eliminate confusion and hassle. Washington DECA has also successfully implemented MobileCause online giving and text-to-donate at their 2019 Emerging Leaders Luncheon and other campaigns.
